HOW FAR HAVE WE COME? Community Event in Gedenken an das Attentat von Atlanta am 16. März 2021
Am 16. März jährt sich der Amoklauf im Großraum Atlanta, Georgia, bei dem insgesamt acht Menschen ums Leben kamen, darunter sechs ost- und südostasiatischen Frauen*, die aus rassistischen und sexistischen Motiven ermordet wurden. Wir gedenken Daoyou Feng, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Soon Chung Park, Xiaojie Tan, Yong Ae Yue sowie Paul Andre Michels und Delaina Ashley Yaun Gonzalez. YEOJA Mag organisiert gemeinsam mit korientation in Kooperation mit dem Koreaverband und bi’bak eine Veranstaltung anlässlich des Jahrestages, um einen kritischen Blick auf anti-asiatischen Rassismus in seiner Verschränkung mit Klassismus und Sexismus zu werfen.
Die Veranstaltung zeigt die Arbeiten von fünf ost- und südostasiatischen Künstler*innen aus verschiedenen Disziplinen, die sich in ihren Werken mit den weitreichenden Auswirkungen von anti-asiatischem Rassismus vor und nach dem 16. März 2021 und seit der Covid-19-Pandemie auseinandersetzen.
Im Anschluss an das Screening folgt eine Podiumsdiskussion mit den Künstler*innen, bei der wir unter anderem der Frage nachgehen: Wie weit sind wir in einem Jahr gekommen und wie weit müssen wir noch gehen?

Auf der Veranstaltung werden keinerlei Formen von diskriminierendem und rassistischem Verhalten geduldet, keine Formen von Rassismus, Anti-Semitismus, Anti-Muslimischer Rassismus, Klassismus, Queer- und Transfeindlichkeit, Fatphobia usw.
Die Veranstaltung wird von YEOJA Mag in Kooperation mit korientation e.V., bi’bak und dem Korea Verband veranstaltet und im Rahmen des Projektes MEGA durch das BMFSFJ im Programm „Demokratie leben!“ sowie durch das Land Berlin im PartInt-Programm gefördert.

YEOJA x MEGA present: HOW FAR HAVE WE COME?
Community event in Memory of the Atlanta attacks on 16 March 2021
As of March 16th, it will be one year since the shooting in the area of Atlanta, Georgia, where eight persons lost their lives, six of them East- and South-East Asian women murdered for a racist and sexist motif. In memory of Daoyou Feng, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Soon Chung Park, Xiaojie Tan, Yong Ae Yue as well as Paul Andre Michels and Delaina Ashley Yaun Gonzalez. YEOJA Mag in cooperation with korientation e.V., Koreaverband and bi’bak will be hosting an event which will take a critical look at anti-Asian racism and xenophobia in relation to classism and sexism.
The event will feature the work of five East- and South-East Asian artists from varying disciplines whose work directly confront the larger implications of anti-Asian racism and xenophobia both pre and post March 16th 2021 as well as since the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the screening there will be a panel discussion where we investigate, amongst other things, how far we have come in a year and how far we still need to go?
