[English Version below]

YEOJA x MEGA present: HOW FAR HAVE WE COME?
Community event in Memory of the Atlanta attacks on 16 March 2021
On March 16th, it marked one year since the tragic shooting incident in the vicinity of Atlanta, Georgia. Eight individuals lost their lives in this unfortunate event, six of whom were East- and South-East Asian women, targeted due to a racist and sexist motive. We remember Daoyou Feng, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Soon Chung Park, Xiaojie Tan, Yong Ae Yue, Paul Andre Michels, and Delaina Ashley Yaun Gonzalez.
YEOJA Mag, in collaboration with korientation e.V., Koreaverband, and bi’bak, had organized an event to reflect on and address the issue of anti-Asian racism and xenophobia, examining its intersection with classism and sexism.
The event showcased the works of five artists of East- and South-East Asian descent, spanning various disciplines. Their creations directly confronted the broader implications of anti-Asian racism and xenophobia, both preceding and following the events of March 16th, 2021, and extending into the era of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the screening, a panel discussion ensued, delving into various aspects, including an assessment of the progress made in the past year and the distance yet to be covered.
